Enerkem Inc. has partnered with Leiden, Netherlands-based Dimeta to initiate feasibility studies for the development of two large scale projects to convert waste into renewable and recycled carbon dimethyl ether (DME), a clean-burning fuel for use in numerous applications.
After showing off its years of work on microwave-based plastic recycling technology last year, Montreal's Pyrowave has revealed efforts to also utilize microwaves for greener cement production. Pyrowave claims its process cuts carbon emissions by 40 per cent.
